4th of July - 2011

We reversed the order this year and spent the night in Lakeway the night before. No fireworks were allowed in Central Texas this year due to the extreme drought so we had celebrate in our own way with sparklers and pop rocks. Each had their own demonstration with Dad and then we let Ben go solo as long as he was sitting.
Mary preferred to stomp on her pop rocks and Ben perfected his throw.
Once again we returned to Lakeway for their neighborhood parade this year. Mary is not happy about being told to stay in her seat during the parade.
We chose our spot based on the shade and it ended up being at the start of the route which meant the candy coffers on each float were full and the participants were eager to throw handfuls at Ben and Mary. Not many kids were near our spot so they had easy pickings from the pavement. We brought home more candy than we collected at Halloween.
Wouldn't be the 4th without the dancing grandmas in sequins

Mary got extra mileage out of the flags. When you haven't seen rain in months, sometime you put on your pink boots and pretend.
