Happy 4th

We joined the Lakeway festivities for the day on Saturday (big thanks to the Goodwins for the condo) as they celebrate a day early. Packed the car and amazingly got the kids rounded up in the morning to make the 830am parade start. Ben loved it, Mary was indifferent. Lots of "garage queen" cars made their presence known, including various state representatives, veterans, boy scouts, girl scouts, insurance agents wanting your business in exchange for a free frisbee, etc. Our favorite line of the day was from Ben who said "I can't believe it!" Everybody was throwing candy at the spectators and those on foot often came up to him and handed him candy directly. He was in heaven. Once he figured this out he really started to wave at everyone. Having his cute kid sister next to him in the stroller helped him attract extra attention.

Most of the 50 states represented by a phalanx of flag bearing golf carts driven by what looked to be septuagenarians. Aunt Julie, if you look closely perhaps you'll break out into song, "Hail! Minnesota".

We even found Rose a hobby for retirement. These lovely women were in fine form and looked liked all that mall walking had paid off.

Spent the afternoon and evening in the condo. Nice night on the back porch looking out towards the lake. Ben stayed up to see most of it. Mary called it a night right after dinner.

That parade had something for everyone. Candy for Ben, a Cobra for Dave and Karen... Hey Merren, what do you say we join the "marching grandmas" next year?

Auntie Julie Particularly loves the fact that the Colorado flag and Minnesota flag are right next to each other. It's summer, so GO TWINS AND GO ROCKIES. Looks like you guys had a great time (no rain, how lucky)
