We could only use our sun shade in the early morning as the wind would blow it away by midday.
The kids loved the bunk bed and could have stayed in the room all day. They always wanted the curtains closed to make their own private cave.
On the second day we took over a pool created by another family. Much to our surprise, we found 6-8 fish swimming in the pool. The kids thought this was "the greatest thing ever" and we played a game of "sea rescue". Eric caught the fish in a cup and showed them to the kids and then we released them. The sea gulls caught on and started to hover over us. Eric released the first fish in the surf and the gull dove and picked it up. The kids were confused and excited. We laughed at the irony of the "rescue". Next time Ben wants us to bring a net and a big shovel so we can build another pond. The water in the pond was warm enough to swim in and the sand walls blocked the wind.
Dinner on the pier at Snoopy's at the other end of the island. Ben has been eating adult sized portions and inhales fried shrimp. Mary eats them only because of Ben, and Ben is happy to finish her plate for her. We are reminded that we don't like fried oysters.
We promised the kids ice cream before taking the ferry back to the main land. Of course, they picked the most colorful, hideous looking ice cream. Looked like Playdoh.
Great trip. We hope to make this a yearly trip.

Eating outdoors at the beach is the best. These pics reminds me of our stay at Ft. Walton Beach. I'm sure Eric remembers the red tide, but we still had lots of fun.
Eric has a little play dough of his own. Kids make a good vacation great.
